When I finished the linc assessment, I was told it was full in this school, I had to wait. I called them to make sure, they told me I can join them immidiately. It's lucky :)

On my point of view, good proficiency of English is the base of happy life in Toronto. My wife will also join Linc class once she come back Canada. Her first job is to learn English and grasp English. With full time learning, I believe she'll get great progress in one year.

Full time learnig is good.  If possible, I want to do that too. Good prepare for better life.

My Linc school is near the subway station. I think it's very good,not only in my class.  but it is a little far from your house. I joined one Linc class in daytime before but I think it's not good. And I heard of that daytime linc class was not as efficient as evening class. I am not sure if it is true. Anyway , try to find a better school to learn, some really kill your time.

Maybe ESL is another choice. It need pay a little money. You can compare it with linc class.

Thank you for your suggestion! We'll see whether or not LINC class will work for a couple of months. I have suggested my wife that she should take a postgraduate diploma program when her language proficiency is good enough, which undoubtedly will benefit her long term career development.

Big decision. You should support your family by yourself for several years.

One of my internet friend was a English teacher in university before. She still study as a doctor now. At the same time, she study accounting in a college. When I join the internet friend's party, many family is one working, another studying.

I have no idea about my long term career development.
Maybe I'll try the area that I am working now. At least I studied this knwoledge in university, although I didn't use it before.  And it is easier to find a job and the work is not too hard.

If begin a new area, it need pay a lot of money and energy. Maybe I'll think about it later, when I can think about it :)

This morning my daughter’s teacher told me there would be a concert next Thursday in the daycare. She asked me took my daughter’s swimsuit and sand shoes that day. I think it’s a tool for her to partake in a performance.

An interesting thing it is. It’s the first time my daughter will partake in a performance. She is just almost two, I can’t guess what action she can do. I think I’ll be satisfied whatever she will do in the performance. I should take a camera there on that day. I can’t wait for that day :)

Big decision? For me, it's a piece of cake

As you should know, living a normal family life in Toronto is not costly. Income from either the husband or the wife should be sufficient to support a small family.

For us, we come to Canada only for an easy life, not for big money.

I would say that making a long term career plan for yourself is very important. Making a plan basing on your present job is not a bad idea. Think about it. It won't take you long, but may save you a lot of time and energy by avoiding bad decisions.

You are right, usually income from one side should be sufficient to support a small family. But I should save some money first :)

As far as I know, the government should cover your kid's daycare cost unless your income is too high to be eligible. Have you ever checked your eligiblity for daycare coverage?

You're right. The difference in my family is that we won't save any money. We'll use up all my salary every month

I'll think about that question five years later   Enjoy your present life first!


We're new comers, so I believe that most of us may get the best salaried job in five years. Besides we still have enough time to think and make the plan for the retirement life. I prefer to handle problems one by one following their time sequence. No need to rush!

I know little about daycare subsidy.

You could do the calculation. Sometimes one side takes the job income may be better than both sides do that because you're losing government subsidies in daycare, child benefit, tax refund, etc. with the growth of your family income.

That's also part of the reason why I don't encourage my wife to look for a job immediately.

You are right, the majoy problem is that I still don't find a direction for my long term career development. So I delayed it.  In fact , I prefer to base on my present job, it can use the knowledge I studied in the university. It don't need to be back to square one.
