Great!

I was very busy this weekend, changing the faucet in the bathroom of the second floor, installing new range hood in the kitchen, buying a TV, etc. It was my first time to watch TV at my Canadian home yesterday. I watched a French movie. Even though I couldn't  understand it completely, I did learn something from it.

Are you watching English TV program everyday? I believe those programs should gradually do you good.

I seldom watch TV. In the evening time, I go to the LINC class. After that, I always waste my time in internet or some thing else.

When I watch TV, I can't catch most of them. The TV subtitle is delayed. If I notice it, I can't hear the voice. But if I don't read it, I can't know what they are talking about at all. So I just feel stressful when I watch TV . I admire you for studying French by yourself!

Maybe I should make a decision that I must watch TV for half an hour every day.

Although I live in China now,but I force myself to speak and listen almost everyday, talk with my daughter,listen to CBC radio , watch program of Family  Album USA. I do really want to improve my English as soon as possilbe, but I know it is not as same as playing a new game.It is a hard work.Learning English needs not only practice but also strong willpower. I know most of people run short of willpower,including me!
I should try my best to conquer the difficulty. "xianyun "and "jiayi" have affected me deeply, I shoulc learn from you .
Learn English well for better life in Canada.
Learn English by heart for enjoying the life in the future!

Seems like I need to spend more time in English because the difficulty was obvious during my chatting with colleagues this afternoon. In fact, I feel little progress in my English after I have landed Canada and worked full time for about eight months, even though most of my colleagues are native speakers. How to balance learning French and English is a big problem

Internet is an interesting thing. I recognized you by it. Although I don’t know where you are, what time you are online. I can talk with you.

Yesterday in LINC class, we discussed that everybody brought some food to the classroom on Friday. I have no idea what food I can make. So I asked this question in this forum and another forum. ( I have been in this forum several years ago. I like it. And in another forum internet friends are in Toronto. So I like both.)  

I got many different answers quickly from here and there. One internet friend introduced me a food this morning. When I asked her for the detail, she called me directly. She told me the food serial, the process, the notice, etc. That’s why I didn’t write the diary this morning. I’ll try to make it this evening.

And YueMing, Can you teach me how to make delicious ‘JiaoZhi’? I can make it for my daughter’s breakfast.  Maybe type these in Chinese will be easier to understand. I’ll ask you in another post . ^_^

You scared me! My first target is I can understand what people talking and I can express my opnion. But even though, it is difficult to me.

I faced same problem. Study English have many things need to do: memorizing, reading, writing,speaking, listening. Such as tonight, it's difficult to do all the things: watching English TV, memoring new words, taking care of my baby, making food, cleaing house, washing clothes.... And all the things must do. And I still want to get internet. :(

i have no special methods indeed. enough salt, sauce, and oil is necessary. and the last but not least, i like to put some sweet potato noodle. it will make the taste very good.

anyway, it just caters to our taste. i am not sure if others will like it.

It’s very necessary to make a schedule when there are too many things need do.

I listed many things must do yesterday. But what I did last night? I took care of my baby and watched TV with her. I made food and washed dishes.  Then I began to get internet until midnight. Many things I must do but I delayed it to today again. I show my contempt to myself 

How I can improve it? In my memory, the same things happened in the first month when I have been Canada. I always did the housework until 11:00 pm and the baby usually went to bed late. And in that time, I was a house wife, don’t need to work, don’t need to have a class. I don’t know why.  Later, I made a schedule: what time I should complete preparing foods, what time baby should go to bed, etc. Then I found I have time to do something else after 9:00 pm.

Maybe I should change something in the schedule, add the items of watching TV and memorizing new words. And the most important thing is limiting the time of internet.

Btw: ‘make a schedule’ seems incorrect. How to express it?

Make a schedule is ok.

Sometime it is normal for parents with little baby. Baby is not on control. You cannot avoid taking care baby. What you can do is try to arrange the schedule more flexible. When you have time, you can do more. Otherwise, finish less.

Of course, in order to finish your homework everyday, you have to squeeze time. You should finish that when you have your words.

Another suggestion is not to spend much time on the internet during your spare time I prefer to spend more time in watching French or English TV program instead of being on line when I am free. What do you think?

Exactly, to squeeze time and arrange the schedule more flexible,then according to it. And it is easier to take care of  a kid when she have a regular life.

The linc school which I study now is very good.

I had some linc class before, another school. I found linc class was not so useful. Some classmates just wanted to spent their time, some told me they went there major for the token. I felt I could study a little.  In that time, some one in the linc class suggested me if I want to study English I should join other linc school.

I am satisfied with this school. The teacher is very good and the students all study hard. That’s why some of us chose this school rather than the closer one.

In the beginning of the class, we’ll talk about some thing around us, some are in the reality, some are in the newspaper. In the class, every day we have different topics.  Some times is about renting apartment, some times is about insurance…… Yesterday we talked about how to ask help or give help to others.  Teacher asked us gave help to a stranger such as ‘how to get to our school from downtown’. He asked us to tell the detail, how to take bus, where is the escalator….. I found it’s not easy to organize although it was in my mind.   ‘First….Then….After that…., turn left……’. In the study, If you have any question you can ask, the teacher or the classmates will help you.

The method of study is different too. Some times we followed teacher’s pronunciation, Some times everybody read part of a  article in class and the teacher correct your pronunciation, some times every two is a group to talk with each other, Some times there list a lot questions, you should ask different classmates to finish them……… It’s very funny.
