I think so, but if you invite many persons it's a easy way to go. Otherwise you need to cook a lot.  While every person can join BBQ easily, you can cook together, not only a person do everything and others just wait

HeHe, at least the cooking time is longer. you can begin it from 11:00am to 4:00pm

btw: Do you read my today's diary? How many percents tax you pay for your house? Do you have refund tax for it? Today when I wrote the diary I confused. When you buy a house, both buyer and seller need to pay 7% tax(GST) to goverment? If it is, the goverment accept 14% tax? and after merging taxes,they can accept 30% tax?  I think maybe I misunderstand.

For the first time buyer, most trade taxs of buying a house are exempted. I believe that I only paid several hundred dollars for my house transaction. Don't worry, the lawyer will figure out that number for you. All you need to do is to tell him that both of your couple are the first time buyer in Canada.

I declared income tax for the year 2008 by myself. And I had already received tax refund.  It's really great. Don't worry about tax, you won't lose money if your family income is not high enough. On contratry, you may benefit from it. That's also the reason why I don't encourage my wife to look for a job immediately after she arrives here. She'll have engough time to grasp English and take some postgraduate diploma program for her long-term career development, while our family can still benefit from government support at the same time.

Seems like you did misunderstand me. What I meant is that I should pay about two thousand transaction tax for buying a house, but I only paied several hundread dollars because I was the first time buyer.

from what you and X Yun's  talk, i understand that  you can pay less taxes if you buy a house for the first time, especially when the house price is lower than 400,000 dollars. it means the government encourages people to buy a house for living, not investment. right?

I searched the information of buying home in internet, I understand it now.

To XianYun's house, because it isn't a new house, it doesn't need to pay the GST tax. And the new policy is applied from next year, so you don't need to pay PST too. The only tax you need to pay is land transfer tax. It's about $2000. If you are the first time buyer, you can get $2000 back. That's why you only pay several dollars.

If the new tax policy apply, people need to pay PST tax. But they can get some tax back. Just like I wrote in last diary.  I am not sure if the tax should be paid when the house isn't a new house.

If you want to buy a house, you need prepare the following fee:
1. deposit.  2.  down payment.  3.property insurance  4. Mortgage Insurance and Application Fee 5.Land Transfer Tax.  6. the lawyer fee.
Except the first three items, the others called closing costs, usually, it’s 1.5 percents of the house price.

If the house price is high then the land transfer tax is high too. For the first time buyer, you can get some tax back.But at most you can get $2000 back no matter how much your house are.
I think you are right, the goverment encourage people buy the house for living.

I saw the information again, I found for the tax back, Ortario's highest amount is $2000, Toronto's highest amount is $3725. That's is say, if you buy a house under the $400,000, you pay nothing for the tax.

These weekends are sunny, it's good weather to go outside. We went to Franklin beach yesterday where is near Toronto but doesn’t strike.

Franklin beach is near Simcoe lake. Like Ontario lake, the Simcoe lake is very big too. The sand in the beach is fine, and near the beach the lake is not deep and the bottom is flat. For adult, you can walk in the lake for a long distance. Three families went to there together. One family took a boat there which filled air. So three children sat in the boat and two adult pushed them in the lake. in the lake, Some times they played the ball, some times they play the squirt gun. Although it was the first time my daughter swimming. She swam in a life buoy   without any scare. She sat in the boat and enjoyed it too. Even when we got home, she still said ‘boat’ when she saw the photos.

Some people played in the lake. Some lied with a bath towel or sat in the beach chairs on the beach enjoying the sunshine, some children played the sand. A lovely day.

If you want to go there, you can search the key words ‘franklin beach’ in http://maps.google.ca/, you’ll find it.  The scene on the road is very beautiful. It’s countryside scene which is different from the city. Some times you can see the corn field, some times you can see the horse on the grassland, some times you can see the people picking the strawberry in the farm. So beautiful there are. But the parking fee near the beach is expensive, $6/hour. So maybe we’ll choose another beach next time. . The cost is about $40, $20 for parking, $20 for oil. That’s all. You can take some food there by yourself.

I like outdoor activity. In Canada it’s easy to come true. I like Canada more and more.

Last weekend we went to a mall in Vaughan. I impresses with a store----Bass Pro Shop. It’s the biggest outdoor world retail store I have ever seen.

The store is divided into several parts: fishing, boating, camping and hunting... The store is so big. I regretted that I didn’t take the camera. Maybe next time I’ll take some photos there.

Different boats are displayed In the front of the store, and when you enter the store, you’ll see different boats inside too. The prices are from several thousand dollars to tens of thousands.  The tents are put up in the store, you can walk in to have a test. They sell the guns for hunting too. You can see many different guns in the store.  There are many things I didn’t see before. For example, some equipment to help you be on the tree; some article bait such as a deer, We think maybe it is used to attract a bear, so they can hunt them on the tree. It’s just a guess.  Except the special outdoor stuffs, there are many popular outdoor things too: fishing equipment, article fish bait for catching big fish, outdoor clothes, shoes, sleeping bags ….

We played a shot game in the store. One dollar for 25 times shot. Many animals are in a corner. Some are in front of you, some are on the tree. We shot several animals and the last one we shot a bear on the tree.

From the outdoor world retail store I find that so many outdoor activities we can take if we want to.
