These two days I am looking for a camera lens.

My old one’s focal length is not long enough to take a long distance scene such as fall.  As a preparation of the Sunday’s picking cherry and visiting fall trip, I hope I can buy one tomorrow. But the lens is expensive and I am poor. I plan to buy a second-hand one.

Since my baby born, I began to like taking photos. It should put a lot of energy and money to do it well.  I have no money and on time now. But I think it’s a good hobby, especially I have a lovely kid and live in beautiful Canada.

If let me choose, I want to do two things first: studying English and learning photography. But working is the necessay thing I should do.

I can't help admiring jiayi so much. It is really hard to insist on for so long a time.

Once  I was trying to write something in English, but never held on for a while.

真的是非常佩服LZ这麽有毅力，我很想看懂，可是看不懂，只有借金山快译来看个大概，不止一次的听老移民说到英语的重要性，可我还是迟迟没有信心去从头来学，要知道我可是一点都不会呀。。再次佩服

To me, it’s not so hard to write the English diary. Why? I really thank the people in the forum. You give me so many encouragements or corrections in my thread. Especially thank for YueMing and XianYun. You almost come here everyday. So writing diary is just like talking with some friends everyday. The only difference is just the talking method, it’s typing in English and in internet.

In fact, I admire many persons in this forum. For example, XianYun writes French diary every day. It’s much more difficult than mine. First, French is not so necessary in Toronto like English. Second, he writes it by himself at the most of the time because many of us can’t understand French.  

I admire YueMing too. When I was in China, I didn’t study English at all. That’s why I have to study hard now. For me, I always feel time is limit, there are so many things I should do or I want to do. If I prepared it well in these years then I can enjoy my life now.  As Confucius said, "People who do not think far enough ahead inevitably have worries near at hand”. But there hasn’t ‘if'. some times I am happy, some times I am anxious very much, just like now.

其实我现在是没办法，不得不，要不在加拿大生存都有问题。你遇到我现在这情况也会硬着头皮也要学的。

You're right. We have enough time in hand. So we'd better figure out what's first thing to do, what's the next,...etc. I believe that your family doesn't have economic pressure now. All you need to do now is to prepare for a better life in the near future. Take your time

you did good job. i really admire you so much. you r very patient and persistant. although i think i should study english and get prepared, i am too lazy to persist. especially when i find it is hard to improve my english to a higher level, i have not enough drive to do it.

You are right.

I thought it over last weekend. Time is limited, the things I want to do are too much. I have to give up somethng. Otherwise nothing I can do well.

Do something I must do: 1. playing with my daughter. 2. studying English 3.studying .NET
4. studying drive.

Give up something I like: 1. having trip in weekend 2. studying photography 3. being on internet.

I think I always stay in the same level too. It seems hard to improve.   Anyway, there have hope if I insist on it, no pay no gain. Let's study together.

These days I watch the program ‘friends’ every night.

At first time I watched 4 sections every night because it’s so funny. In fact, it’s not really learning English.  It’s just watching TV.

Now I am learning English by watching it. The speed becomes very slow. I still stay in watching section 1. The new words which I wrote down are 3 pages. I watched the program, memorized the new words, listened it without watching, read the text aloud, listened it in parallel with looking the text. After that, I did it again and again. Till now, I still can’t listen all of the section 1 clearly. It has last for 3 days. According to this speed, after I finished first 24 sections, it should cost 3 months. Maybe after several weeks exercise I can watch it more quickly.

Through watching it I found the western’s method to sex is so different to us. They talk about making sex just like having a dinner. If you have a daughter, do you worry about it?

At begining, I worried about the sex issue just like you. After watched whole seasons,  I had the impression that America just think responsibily of marriage is more serious than sex itself. So safety is important not the sex itself.

Don't worry too much about that. Canadians are much more conservative. Anyway, after kids are 18 years old, it's very difficult to ask them to follow parents' advice

I used the method ‘one word by one word’ because I find my vocabulary is too limited. I should enlarge my vocabulary. I checked it last night. The pages of the section 1’s new words are 4 pages, in both sides. You can judge how limited my vocabulary is.
In fact, I find my vocabulary still stay in middle school level. In university I learned a little. Most of the words I used are from middle school.

Maybe I can learn from my daughter soon.

Yesterday I met my daughter’s classmate on the way home. She asked me where my daughter was. I answered ‘ Her daddy take her’. Then she answered ‘ oh, her daddy pick her up’. She is right. ‘pick up’ is better.

Another example, I played with my daughter in the playground. A little boy wanted our football to play. So I threw it to him and said ‘ accept it’. Then he answered ‘oh, I got it’.
Yes, ‘ get it ‘ will be better.
