    Toronto zoo is Canada’s premier zoo. It’s set in the beautiful Rouge Valley.
    The zoo is large very much. It’s divided into 6 zoogeographic regions: Indo-Malaya, Africa, the Americas, Australasia, Eurasia and  the Canadian Domain. The zoo mobile is sensonal. It will be opened on May 1st. So We can just go around the zoo by walk. It’s too large to visit all.

   Animals are displayed indoors in tropical pavilions and outdoors in naturalistic environments. Because the weather was still cold many outside animals hide. We just see the tigers, zebra, lion and so on. But the animals displayed indoors are interesting. When I saw those tropical animals I found I saw them before in the movie ‘The Lion King’. The painting of the movie ‘The Lion King’ is perfect!

    I think the perfect time to go to the zoo is from May. The weather gets warm. More animals will be outdoors, and the zoo mobile will open. Many seasonal exhibitions will open too. I can’t see any exhibition last Sunday.

    If you have a child, it’s a good way to interactive child’s wildlife experience. For adult, maybe one time is enough. But for children, they like there. When we have a baby, we found there are so many places we can go. She can go there time and again. So we bought the zoo member’s ticket. It can be free admission all year and free zoo mobile rides. The fee is $115 for 2 adults. Child under the age of 4 is free. For one adult, it’s $21 per time. If you drive there you should pay the parking fee about $8 per time.

My husband is always complaining when I visit the forum. He thinks we are so busy. I shouldn’t spend too much time here. But I like here, I visit the forum everyday. Why?

Every person has different story. They share their stories in the forum such as happiness or bother. Some have a sense of humor, some show much consideration for you, some show their experience. It likes a big family, warmly. When I tired I like to come here to have a rest.  

I am a person always in the middle, not too good, not too bad. I think it is because I am not so smart or some thing else. In fact, character is fate.

I read some articles wrote by XianYuan in this forum and some articles wrote by CandaceGao in another forum. I found some same excellences of them from their story. To have plans, Brave, positive, not easily give up, try their best to find the way solving the problem instead of complaining. And  PERSISTENCE, I think it’s the most important thing.

yes, my husband always warns to me that I should not enjoy the happy life in Canada if I won't learn English well. He said more listening,more reading,more writing,more speaking should be good for grasping a language.I think so,so I will try my best, through there are less progress in my English, but I believe that I would be successful if I keep on learning .
so let's do our best to learn English.

Yes, try our best to learn English.
In fact, I used to be in a life of leisure when I lived in China. In that time I don’t need to take care baby, do so many housework and I had time to do other things in my work time. I didn’t cherish time to learn English though I know I’ll live aboard.


Now time is limit, while I found it’s so necessary to speak English. I think a person’s English improved abroad, most of the reasons are because the stress and a strong desire to speak English well.
English environment is another reason, but not mainly. That’s why somebody have been here several years but still can’t speak English.

So, I think if you have time in China, you can pick it up first. It will be better than me to do it so late.

I always look for my self-confidence from others but I find it’s no use. I still don’t have it.

One of my friends told me there were two ways to have self-confidence. It is from the education in childhood. When he grows up, it relies on himself, such as experience.  I think so too.

I’ll try the first way in my daughter’s childhood. I hope I can encourage her, try to avoid blaming her. It’s difficult to me. I can’t help blaming her as soon as she does something wrong. ‘Be patient’, I should remind me time and again.

The fate is complex but what I can do just to improve my character. ‘Character is fate’. Many times it is right. The excellences of the character is Just I said before: ‘ Having plans, Brave, optimistic, positive, not easily give up, try their best to find the way solving the problem instead of complaining, persistence……’. It’s the factors to success.  More successful things I do more confidence I’ll achieve.

i agree. the experience in childhood really affects people a lot even when he or she grows up. generally speaking, it is a problem that all we chinese have to face up. it is related to culture. we are too close to the most intimate people around us. we sometimes neglet the manners and methods. i am still not sure if it is good or not. things are complicated in fact.

Many times closing more and more manners or methods are neglected.

I seldom encourage my husband now, so does he. We will point out the insufficiencies each other directly without any method. I know the point is right but the method is difficult to accept. I always try to encourage my daughter, while when I am angry I forget to do so.

While I found it’s different to a foreign family. Once time, we went snowboarding with our kid in a small hillside, another mother are with her 5 children too. The children played too happy to left. The mother said ‘I am sorry we have to leave now’. After saying that, she bent her steps homeward.  Although the children wanted to play more, they had to keep up with their mother. The mother is so polite to her children. I never say ‘I am sorry……’to my baby. I say ‘we go now’(in Chinese). Some times we will play longer after saying that if she doesn’t want to leave.

When we go outside we always hear ‘good job’, ‘good girl’,‘well done’……  The parents say such words when their kid does a little thing successfully. It’s a good way to develop self-confidence to a child.

I have a plan to improve (even if you wish to use GRASP, it shouldn't be GRASPING) my English (language of English, sounds wierd).

MY English is ...
VOCABULARY is ...
I can't ...
IT's difficult to....
?? hear the radio...
I find it...

Within such a short paragraph, you have switched the subjects of the sentences quite some times, this is not understood to the reader. Try express your words in a more logical order, the same way when you tell your own story in Chinese.

"If" itself is enough. People don't say "if...or not", and "not sure if....or not" is even unacceptable.

I told my friend that I had kept a journal for one week. But he didn’t think it was an efficient way because I can’t know if the writing is right.  He suggested me watching TV at least half an hour per day.

Exactly, watching TV is a good way to improve English. It just likes a teacher teaching me English everyday and practicing my listening skill. My husband also suggested me to read more English essay first. After doing that writing could be better. Maybe they are right, but I don’t want to give up now since I already decided to do it. At least, it’s a method I can insist on it. If possible, I hope I can save more time to watch TV. But it’s very difficult to me now because so many things need to do everyday. Maybe there is a way I can find later.

I feel it is strange some times when I read my diary. But I didn’t know how to improve it. I want to appreciate RUIBIN again. You read my diary so carefully and gave me so good suggest in a logical method. Thank you very much.

It’s a happy time in my life with my little girl. It’s wonderful to watch her growing up, find her making progress everyday. The time is limited to be with the child, especially when she is very little. I cherish it so much.

She always gets up early, just like today. After she getting up, she played with her teddy bear herself. She tuck the bear up in bed and sang a lullaby softly. Maybe others can not listen what her singing but to me it’s so lovely voice.

When she found I opened the eyes, she said ‘Mum, Get up’(in Chinese). She will help me to do that by pulling me up. When her father make a joke with us such as beating me she will help me to beat him back.

Now she can say more and more words to express her opinion. Although Some times I can’t understand what’s her meaning. She likes singing and dancing. She can count form 1 to 10 by English or Chinese……

So many progresses she had made, So many happiness she have taken to us. I wish her healthy and happy everyday!

Watching TV is likely a one-way process, that you can only receive the information.

English is a tool for communication, and communication is an interactive process more than "receiving", you still have to express yourself, make yourself understood.

Therefore, keep writing journal everyday, watching TV especially on news programs, plus practising your oral speech, these will build up your comprehensive ability on English and make progress in a correct way.
