A 41-year-old man is now in stable condition after he was stabbed inside a metro car at Henri-Bourassa metro Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect remains at large.
Police responded to a 911 call just after 3 p.m. after a fight broke out between two people.
Witnesses said the conflict degenerated into a stabbing in the metro car at the station.
The victim was taken to hospital where his condition has stabilized, said Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture. No one has been arrested so far.
Henri-Bourassa metro station was closed as police investigated. Investigators will look at security cameras as well as speak with witnesses, said Couture.
Trains are bypassing the station. Shuttles to and from the station to neighbouring metros Sauve and Cartier have been set up in the meantime. Part of the Orange Line was temporarily shut down, but service has since continued.
