United Way $3-million shy of its goal
The economy hasn't rebounded as many of us had anticipated and it's having an impact on this year's fundraising efforts of the United Way in Toronto.
There's about a week left in the campaign and it's $3-million short of its $116-million goal and that has the head of the united way issuing an appeal for help.
"I think it's fair to say that never have we all felt this kind of pressurem but the good news is we believe we're close and we can achieve our goal," president and CEO Susan McIsaac told 680News.
"We go through a really rigorous process of setting our goal," president and CEO McIsaac told 680News. "We look at the need, we also look at what we think is possible and what we believe is possible. We do believe 116 (million) is possible."
The United Way boosted this year's "ask" by $3-million over last year but McIsaac said it's because the demand for services has grown.
