OK Place that could improve

The food is pretty good with some authentic dishes (along with the inevitable sweet and sour pork, fried rice and the like). Certainly food quality is above average for a Chinese restaurant in this city. The place is a bit oddly arranged within a house. Essentially, tables are located in the upstairs bedrooms and the waitress encourages people to close the bedroom doors to avoid food smells coming up from the kitchen. We left our bedroom door open; there was no problem with the smell. We had noodles, stuffed eggplant, fried ginger kale (except I really don't think that the green vegetable was actually kale), the pepper beef and hot and sour soup. I was not too thrilled with the soup but enjoyed all of the other dishes. Although photos that appear to have been submitted by the restaurant show nice table cloths on the tables, the night we were there the table covers were disposable plastic (did not look too good). The water that was brought to the table was too warm to drink. On the whole though, they do a nice job with the cooking of the food (I uploaded photos of the dishes that we ordered). The place is worth trying.

We recently enjoyed the best Chinese meal we've had so far in Canada, thanks to a recommendation that we try this place. This is a newer restaurant with a Hong Kong chef, which is a very good thing because the menu has not been corrupted by non-Chinese influences.
We ordered an eggplant dish, green beans with pork, General Tso's chicken, and a fried noodle dish. The difference in flavour compared to other "Chinese" restaurants was incredible. I lived in China for 2 years and highly recommend the food here!

Shanghai Lily opened up during some of the worst possible winter weather this year, but they are well worth braving the elements. The main floor has a couple of tables, but upstairs holds mutiple private dining rooms. The food runs to what I would consider quite traditional Chinese, at least compared to most other dishes in Regina. We had a lovely, vinegary Hot and Sour Soup, spicy squid (that is actually better than what we used to get for Dim Dum at Happy Garden, back in it's hay-days), and a garlic shrimp rice dish that prompted us to do everything but lick the plate clean. Service is professional and unobstrusive. Do wear a sweater though, it's an older house with original windows, and can be a bit drafty.
