由于加拿大的老外受中国的一些电影和媒体的影响，对中国有很大误解，认为中国人仍然极度贫困，吃不饱、穿不暖，工资低廉，中国污染严重，百姓生活在水深火热之中，我感觉有必要要在老外中做一些正面宣传，所以昨晚给我在加拿大、美国的所有老外朋友群发了一封电子邮件，包括照片。
Dear Friends,
I'm currently temporarily in Beijing on holiday till Feburary as I have to be back in Vancouver for the orientation on Feb. 19, 2007.
I have been taken by friends to one after another dinner these days. No matter which day, all the restaurants are full and busy, unlike Canada, needless to say all the huge shopping malls, department stores, super markets...everyday seems to be a Boxing Day. Yesterday evening, my friend XH, whom I met in Egypt, took me to dinner at "Spicy Temptation" restaurant, a huge Sichuan style restaurant that seats hundreds of people. Even though it was Tuesday evening, it was full of people! Unlike people in Canada, XH ordered so much food for both of us we were just worried how to finish them! Check the picture to see what we had for dinner. Later we had three more friends joining us and still we could only finish half of the food! XH is one of the two girls I met during my holiday in Egypt. She will also play the piano for me. Four waiters served our table, and one of them was a very attentive 18 year old from Hubei. Pity in China we don't give tips.
The men's washroom was very original. The toilet for men to pee was made an elegant waterfall. To pee there was such a joy. Please check the attached pic.
Also, one of my best friends K and his friend Lu came to the airport to pick me up, and then took me to a huge seafood restaurant. I missed the food so much! Everyone says I'm slimmer now. I guess that's because in Canada people don't have great food, don't dine out as often as we do here.
Great changes have been taking place since I left Beijing last August. On the way to my home stands the new Wanda Plaza, with a new, huge cinema, new Walmart, and new Starbucks and a new shopping mall...needless to day all the construction for the 2008 Olympics.
