Web developer for one-year term appointment
The Genome Sciences Centre is looking for an exceptional Web developer who is a highly motivated, self starter that enjoys developing and delivering creative solutions to challenging problems. You will be part of a fast-moving biomedical research environment, contributing to the ongoing design and development of two existing public web sites.
The successful candidate will be a team player with good communication skills, both written and oral, and a track record of learning new technologies and improving processes.
Requirements

Ideally you will be a creative, enthusiastic developer with interests in biological sciences and a strong background in web technologies. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Biological Sciences plus recent related experience.
Useful Skills and Experience Include:

• Experience with web frameworks (i.e. Zope, Plone, Ruby on Rails, Django etc.)
  
• An understanding of AJAX, XHTML, XML, CSS and Web Services
  
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL
  
• Experience with content management systems
  
• Basic familiarity with a UNIX environment
  
• Experience with relational and object databases
  
• Familiarity with Open Source technologies
  
• Knowledge of version control and software development
