[size=14.285715103149414px]MONCTON (GNB) – The provincial government will invest $800,000 over two years in SkillsNB, a new eLearning platform offering training and up-skilling online courses.
[size=14.285715103149414px]“In order to grow our economy and create jobs we need to invest in our greatest resource – our people,” said Premier David Alward. “These courses will allow New Brunswickers to invest in their future and skills, anywhere, anytime.”
[size=14.285715103149414px]SkillsNB is a joint initiative between the provincial government and SkillSoft, a Fredericton-based company.
[size=14.285715103149414px]“These online resources will provide training and up-skilling, while complementing existing education and post-secondary education efforts to help people reach their career goals,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Jody Carr. “This investment is further proof of our focus on people, skills and jobs to help build a stronger New Brunswick for generations to come.”
[size=14.285715103149414px]The SkillsNB library contains more than 6,000 online assets including courses, videos, interactive simulations, and full-text books in English and French. These resources cover a wide variety of subjects such as business, IT, desktop, leadership, management and certifications.
[size=14.285715103149414px]Every resident can refresh or develop new skills for free in the following professional areas:
[size=14.285715103149414px]more than 1,200 professional IT courses;
[size=14.285715103149414px]more than 600 business skills courses;
[size=14.285715103149414px]more than 3,700 desktop skills courses; and
[size=14.285715103149414px]more than 120 business and IT certification paths.
[size=14.285715103149414px]Participants in the SkillsNB program will have access to the full collection of content and targeted learning paths – at no cost – to allow them to prepare for a specific position or certification.
