Transferring funds and taxation when Immigrating to Canada
If it is to show an immigration officer while landing that you have brought sufficient funds to support you and your family for the first year in Canada, then 6 month bank statements is not the choice at all. You need to bring cash, cheque, traveler’s cheque, money order, banker’s draft or other forms of funds that you can have direct access.
If you transfer a significant amount of money, for instance, $200,000, you first need to fill out Form E667 and may be requested by CBSA to provide further proof of your legal possession of the fund. Then you should provide the proof accordingly such as bank statements, income tax returns, pay stabs and proof of property sale. |
