Why Is Man of Steel Rated PG-13? Violence: A child is bullied in school and on the street. A woman is shot on screen. Characters frequently engage in fistfights and other hand-to-hand combat. Minor depictions of blood are shown. A character is stabbed to death and others are engulfed in flames. A man steals clothes. Students are in peril when their bus drives over the side of a bridge and begins to sink in the river below. Characters are threatened by a tornado and one man is killed. The remains of corpses are seen at an abandoned outpost. A man vomits and bleeds after being exposed to a different atmospheric pressure. A woman is thrown around and pushed by aliens. Numerous planes are attacked and downed by aliens. Frequent destructive depictions are seen including falling building, crushed cars, demolished property and explosions. Weapons are used to attack aliens. An officer flies a suicide mission into the side of a target. Some frightening and grotesque images are seen.
Sexual Content: A couple kisses. A woman gives birth to a baby. Some mild sexual references are included. A man grabs a woman’s buttocks while she is at work.
Language: The script contains a partial sexual expletive and a handful of profanities along with a few terms of Deity. The script also includes some crude terms for male anatomy and infrequent slurs.
Alcohol / Drug Use: A man drinks a beer at home. A woman guzzles a drink in a bar.
