(3 Permanent Positions)
Reporting to the Manager, Team Production, the incumbent will work under the direct supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor and will:
Carry out preventive maintenance throughout Terminals and Outer buildings, overhead signs, Escalator/moving walkway re‐starts. Perform
swing door operations as required for gate assignment purposes. Airport Signage Inventory System (ASIS) – annually inspect road signs and
report via pc tablet, groundside road signs and report any potential safety risks. Maintaining battery chargers. Annual Christmas decorations
installation. Attend “Trouble Calls” from “COMM” and Maintenance Dispatch Centre. Repair damaged wall, drywall, masonry and metal,
damaged signs both illuminated and non‐illuminated, inspect and repair terminal seating, replace damaged ceiling tiles, remove broken glass
in windows and doors, stabilizing and resurfacing floors and floor coverings; tile and carpet. Re‐bending grates in vestibules. Roof storm
water drain cleaning. Potable water cabinet’s inspection and fix minor repairs or call trade to assist. Health and Safety inspection on the
following: Eyewash stations and First Aid Kits ‐ refills. Assist licensed trades when required; provide support in preventive maintenance
which requires skilled trades. Preventive maintenance and minor repair and adjustments to power doors. Physical labour support includes
changing light bulbs in electrical fixtures, refurbishing and repairing various lighting components throughout the Terminals and Outer
Buildings. Transporting materials and tools to work sites. Assist in emergency baggage system failure under the direction of the Maintenance
supervisor and Manager of Operation. Observing safety and standard operating procedures are taken when working in public areas, Escorting
Contractors. Operating specialized equipment in support of maintenance operations such as boom truck, genie lift, scissor lift and fork lift.
The successful candidate will have experience working as a general labourer with a construction, maintenance or equivalent company
employing licensed trades. The successful incumbent must be eligible to apply for and obtain a “Confidential” security clearance pass once
appointed to the position. The incumbent must also have or be able to obtain a “DA” class AVOP license and must possess a valid class “G”
Ontario Drivers License. The successful candidate must meet the security level designated for the position.
The successful candidate must have: knowledge of general maintenance activities and the ability to use a variety of power and hand tools
related to these activities, relevant health and safety training, familiarity with airport premises, experience in analysis and decision making
ability to communicate effectively with the Communication Centre utilizing radios and monitoring radios for emergency calls, ability to lift in
excess of sixty (60) pounds, ability to climb stairs or ladders and kneel or crouch while performing regular duties, freedom and ability to work
shifts, ability to perform duties in inclement weather. The successful candidate must also have interpersonal skills to effectively deal with
people, including superiors, co‐workers, customers and guests. Testing related to any of the above requirements may be included as part of
the interview process.
