Christmas
Ni Hao Ma, (everyone) 『不解』Many Canadians really enjoy the Christmas Season
It is a great spiritual time,
which has become all too commercial, in the western hemisphere.
Never the less it is a very important time of the year for us.
How do you celebrate Christmas in your Culture, or do you
Or is there a cultural equivalent to Christmas in China.
I think this is a good question for Lawrence. Ha Ha
Monamis in china, the spring festeval (also known as lunar new year) has the same important meaning as the christmas in western sociaty. before the spring festeval, we celebrate normal new year. shortly after the spring festeval, we then celebrate festival of lanterns. normally youngsters celebrate the christmas, especially for college students. In HK, because it's a former british colony, there's a tradition to treat the christmas very formally (i think fch r very familiar with this:-)). My church is preparing the christmas program now. I am also participate in it. I will sing a song and also performance a drama. Christmas in China is more commercial than traditonal, i think. Since it is not a traditional fest of China, we have christmas only in the recent 10 years I think. Therefore, more young people celebrate it, but they only regard this as a normail holiday like new year's eve. In the idea of the young people, they think Christmas is more important than other fest. I think it is because that Chirstmas is a wester fest. In contrast, they don't have the same feelings in the traditional chinese festival like spring festival. It is such a pity.
More and more tradition are losting nowadasy, I felt so sorrow for that. In the spring festival or Mid-Autumn festival, the oversee Chinese have more celebration than those in China. They have mangy programs like Kongfu performance, Dragon dance and traditional Chinese music instruments performance. I like this, I found it is very interesting. I will have all week holiday during the Christmas and I want enjoy my first Christmas in Vancouver.
Monamis, is there any special thing for kids to do at the Christmas? I hope Sophie will have some funs in that days. Post by laurence

he is somewhere in Erope now, right Laurence? :-) Yes, I am in west Europe now. It is a small city compared to Vancouver or Toronto. The name is Den Haag in the local language. The most famous thing here is the Peace Palace which is the International Court of Justice. The golden beach here is also beautiful. Other attraction includes the parliament and the Queen's palace.
Re: Christmas
『收到』 I am so very happy that you all are celebrating Christmas one way or anotherI also sing in the Church Choir for the Christmas festivities
They request me to sing Bass,
I think my days of being a Suprano like Suzanna are gone. :-D ,
Suzanna is very talented, as i would certainly expect Soliel to be.
Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our spiritual leader or icon,
i have studied many cultures, informally mind you , and we all have very good beliefs and values that are brought into our customs, societies and civilizations.
If we all acted within these customs, beliefs and values, the world would be a much better place. Christmas is a time for sharing, it has become too commercialized, unfortunately.
But if you share your heart and your soul, you know that there will be someone there to listen to capture your thoughts and give from the heart back of which they have recieved.
That is the true meaning of Christmas.
God Bless to all, or Bless you in the spirit and the culture for which you believe.

My niece has adopted a little girl named Sophiefrom Guanzou
she is beautiful, i met her in late November while i was in Montreal and later in Hamilton Ontario visiting family.
She is a real treasure, and quite the aqddition to the Potter family,
we had much fun and laughter together
There is much for a child to do in Vancouver at Christmas, visits to the zoo, stanley park,
visits to Santa Clause in the shopping malls,
it is all wonderful,
Caroling at the churches, in town,
there should be so much for the eyes of a child to see.
i hope you have a wonderful time with you baby at Christmas, would have invited you here, if i was home earlier, than i was from Ontario.
we love children
hoping you have had a very merry christmas,
