how about feeling of local persons for immigrants

Actually I really want to know how about feeling of local persons for immigrants, especially from China. You can find so many Chinese faces on the street whatever some of them can’t say Chinese. You can hear so many persons talk in Chinese, whatever in Cantonese or mandarin. Sometime I am wondering where am I and feel I still live in china except there are many western faces.
For my feeling immigrants from Europe are easy to accepted by local persons. The reason I believe is that most local persons have long history link with Europe, so they will feel familiar to understand Europe. Otherwise, English is so easy toEuropeans, is it right? I feel English just likes a dialect for Europeans, for example, for Holland people. I have a colleague from Holland and she tells me spellings of Danish are so similar to English and she feel easy to talk in English. My classmates in university were studying the French and get same feeling. The more fluently talk to other persons, the deeply understand each other. But, communication is a big issue to most Chinese persons here.
Last but not at least, culture is another issue. We live so many years in east and have deep relationship and feeling with it. It is very difficult to cut it all and dive into another very different environment. For me, I believe I can’t entirely put myself in Canada but I can understand and enjoy the differences between china and Canada. I think it is enough for me and enough let me to communicate with colleagues, local friends and other Canadian person. My daughter will grow up here and she will be think in English, namely, in Canadian. So, I will get more things from her later. J

I believe that immigrants who came from Europe can integrated into the Canadian society more easily than the Chinese do. The reason is that many Canadians have their ancestors came from Europe long time ago. Otherwise, English is so easy to Europeans, is it right? Firstly, you come to Canada, and when you are first here, you have to be scared, uneasy, intimidated, because you can't be prepared forwhat you are to encounter. no one could be fully prepared for such a huge change in life, culture , way of life.
There has to be an adjustment time, and for some that is longer than others.
I would i am certain feel the same way, if i were to go to China to live.

I think that the most important thing a new immagrent can do, is to get involved, meet people, talk become acquanted with your new country and its people,
i think (and please don't be affended) that you need to speak with the english people, to get a better handle on your new lives, understand us better, and feel more comfortable.
I know when i was in the navy, i didn't go to the night clubs or other places where i guess sailers usually attend, i wanted to know the people , the way the live and why, so i went into the towns, and communitcated with the common people away from the tourist traps etc, and i learned much about the way the people live, who they were, and tried to be part of them.
i think i grew from that experiance,
and i became confident, in communicating with other,
i would love to learn mandorin, or cantanese, but i think you good and wonderful people would really have a good laugh at me, trying to learn
