I'd say the best time to buy is when it works for you personally. Real estate may go up or down in the short term but in the long term I'd say it will go up. Investing in real estate is not something you do for the short term, as a rule. You do it for long term. If you get lucky and make a pile of money quickly, that's nice but never count on it. Rising interest rates, which we're likely to see in the next year or so, will probably put a bit of a damper on things for a while.
One other guy once tried to buy, as an investment, a house for $90,000 back in about 1990. People said he was nuts to even think about it. Far too expensive for what it was. he couldn't get financing so he didn't buy it. Within 5 years it sold again for $300,000 and today it would be worth about $600,000. How much is a detached house in Toronto and which is the best neighbourhood?
When I'm older I would love to move to Toronto. I live in the UK currently.

You are, however, putting the cart before the horse. If you don't qualify to immigrate to Canada then the price of houses doesn't matter at all. And anyway, who knows what the prices will be by the time you come to Canada. first things first ..see if you qualify to live there ..and whether they want you ...its extremely difficult .
prices now average 450,000 pounds who knows when u get older. but in good areas the price is double that and more. By the way, Which country will be the strongest super power in 10 years?? China USA. will remain # 1. for good. India in all its probability with a same level contender in China also. Iceland is the answer. We are establishing our own army. We have the best bankers in the world. We have the best government in the world. Leaders of the world, look up to us, and choose to visit us. i think it will be china for its great ability of economic.
but there is iran that may be the best if the united states let it make the nuclear weapons. Mexico of course! They are sucking the money from the USA and will soon be rich, so rich that Americans will be sneaking across the border into Mexico looking for jobs. China b/c 1) Has huge slave labor and organ-selling business.
2) Huge army and military complex
3) Gets away with environmental mayheim,
4) Sells satellite launching enhanced by traterous Lorel high tech misle technology.
5) combines capitalism with aggression while suppressing any and all opposition.. 药不能停呀。 I hope U.S.A.
I am european but do not rely on european "abilities" to lead the world. Needless to say neither China or Russia, God save us...
At least the U.S.A. knows clearly who the bad guys are, and go straight for them. If not see Europe (1944).
