ETIP Employer Benefits

ETIP participants in the program come from varied backgrounds and cultural environments and from all continents.

These attributes provide potential employers with engineers who have extensive experience in foreign settings.

In today's international market, this may prove invaluable to an employer who is working on foreign projects or is contemplating doing business overseas.

The disciplines offered or considered, subject to demand, every year are:

Mechanical Engineering Technology
Civil Engineering Technology
Electrical Engineering Technology
Chemical Engineering Technology

ETIP Program History
Launched in 1997, the ETIP was developed to meet the specific needs of internationally educated engineers and assist them in re-establishing themselves and pursuing employment in their fields of expertise.

The Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN), along with its partners, the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET) and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) offers a ten-month comprehensive and practical training program.

Program graduates become Technologists in Training and are eligibile for full membership as Certified Engineering Technologists (CET’s) after one year of employment.
